Club events

After a conference call with our President, Captains and Professional this afternoon, the following conclusions were agreed for competitions for 2020.

All Knockout competitions for 2020 have been cancelled

During the period of controlled social distancing for all of us the Club will not run any prize giving competitions

The Ladies Winter League (this Thursday) will be played but tee times have been allocated and cards will be in a 'Safe Zone' in the Pro Shop

The Winter League Knockout will still be played, but updates will only be shown on the website - the Men's captain will contact finalists to confirm running of event

Tuesday's tee times for Seniors & Ladies competition are online with 16 minute intervals per tee time off two tees - this is to be a casual golf event and will be played in the spirit of 'just enjoying the game' with no presentation or socialising before or after in the clubhouse

We hope that you as members will continue to be able to play golf at Colne Valley.  We remind you that you can still submit supplementary cards if you wish, just email info@colnevalleygolfclub.co.uk before you play to say you are inputting a suplementary card.  This will help as the new World Handicapping System will be in place in November.

Information below is about the course and clubhouse:-

The Course

Our course is a safe environment and to help with this we are ensuring that pins are disinfected regularly, and we urge all players to use a glove to pull their own ball from the hole.   Our putting green flags and bunker rakes have been taken away, and bins and ball-washers are maintained as often as possible.  The green staff, when able, will still be at work but will not stop for chats etc. 

We will keep the course open for general golf as much as allowed but will only permit play from 7.30am until 2 hours before dusk.

Please indicate to the Pro Shop staff that you are at the club.  We will set up a ‘safe zone’ for you to do this if we are advised to close the clubhouse completely.

Clubhouse

Our clubhouse, spike bar, Alfie’s bar, Pro Shop and toilet facilities are open, but offices, the Valley Room and kitchen are to be closed from the end of the weekend (or before if instructed).  All beverages will be served in take-away cups and sealed snacks will be available.  Our normal bar menu has now ceased until further notice.

Finally, we are aware the above may change as the Government sets new guidelines and directives and will endeavour to keep you updated.
