Curry Cup Update
Group A is the most advanced with just two remaining fixtures to be completed, both involving current holders Stowmarket GC, who need to make the most of home advantage against Benton Hall & Stableford Abbotts to keep alive any hopes of retaining the trophy. The match against Benton Hall in July will be an interesting encounter with the Essex side sitting on 30 points and requiring 10 ½ points to overhaul the impressive 40 points already obtained by Three Rivers. The outcome of the group will not be known until early August when Stableford Abbotts will need a 13 point haul from their visit to Suffolk to overcome Three Rivers.
Group B has seen the fewest matches played with ColneValley currently leading on 21 ½ points, having gained a respectable 8 ½ points from their recent visit to Five Lakes. The Valley visit Felixstowe on the first weekend in July where the hosts will want to bounce back from the 13 v 5 defeat suffered at Epping in their first match.
Group C is shaping up to be a real battle with current leaders Colchester having accumulated 32 points from their three matches played. With the 40 point haul accumulated by Three Rivers in Group A, Colchester will look to gain at least 8 ½ points from a visit to their neighbours Playgolf in early August. Stoke-by-Nayland have an impressive 25 points from their two home matches and they will look for 15 ½ points from the away matches at Playgolf Colchester and Haverhill.
