Mild golf weather provided; immaculate golf course prepared; benches in place; trees lopped; and clubhouse crowned with Coronation bunting.
The greenkeepers had pulled out all the stops in preparation, so too had Barry and his catering staff.
Whilst Debs polished the trophies, players headed onto the golf course with scorecard and new ball marker in hand, to take on the challenge.
Unfortunately Celia had to withdraw after 9, so she only witnessed half of the remarkable shots which Angie made with her 'Tree Wood' off its namesakes bordering the fairways.
Nearest the pins were won by Karen Biggin (17th), Ruth Eyre-Pugh ((8th), and Karen Charles (11th). Unfortunately Karen was the only one not to go on and birdie the hole, a reflection of her overall round.
The winner was Karen Biggin, playing off 38, with a score of 36.
Placings also went to Ruth E-P (33), Helen Kane (33) and Cynthia Hollingsworth (32). Despite playing off the reds, the ladies were not able to compete with the high scores achieved by the men, playing in their respective Captain's Cup.
The Day's proceeds of £295, including a donation and apologies from Sue Gilbert and Elaine Gilbert, go to the Captains' charity, MND Association.
Thanks go to all who attended and all who made it possible, working tirelessly behind the scenes. It is disappointing that more members were not able to make Colne Valley the centre of their Coronation Celebrations.
